V1 storyboard¶

The storytelling make me very anxious and didn't really see in the first approach where I was going. Mahaut Locher help me for working on it in this V1.

Between, we had exchange in the group with Petra Garajova our mentor. At a moment she talk about making a teaser is aswell possible. This idea was running in my mine and aswell she recommand to add more context on it.

V2 storyboard¶

V2/ invitation to travel in the microbial

After an exchange with Paul Fresnel, the V2 start. Finally this help me more for my final presentation to finding a plan for explaining where I went during this last 3 months and having a structure for not losting the auditors.

Introduction: travel connection, the microbial and me (20s)

The mycelium: working with living matter (45s) - What is mycelium and why is it interesting 15s: sequences of short videos of mycelium + explanations - Experiments & Results 15s: personal photos and videos - Conclusions: what worked / didn't work / constraints and solutions found 15s: photos and personal videos Transition: there is another very interesting microorganism because of its ease of cultivation

V3 - Traveling¶

After a discussion with Capucine Robert my mentor, she recommand me aswell to working more of my context and the introduction of my video and using good quality of image. The V3 start.

Learning with micro organism bring me back in the old souvenir to travel. This test use some captation to my previous traveling in Russia, Mongolia, Japan inside train. Was difficult for me to accept to let go of the fact that the whole of my final video is not just up to me. With hindsight, it finally makes sense with my project that it's not possible to do everything alone and my ourself.

After Effect¶

I use Premiere Pro first for having a quick version on it, for see quickly if it's realistic or not. Finally I go in After Effect for making it, and start again to scratch.

I ask some help of Théo Brice for using After Effect, I used it long time ago but I was needed some of reminder on it. He share me some tips aswell for mixing my picture together to right and after going to left for making something more slowly when I have to mix them together going fare and going inside the picture. And how it's important to changing the rythm at some moment and not having to much same things inside the video.

MAJ = moving and colle the media U = for edit the keys CMD K = for changing the parameter inside the composition

He teach me how having good export for the video and save the parameter.

After this I was going back inside After Effect for making others versions, we had others exchange with Capucine Robert. Finally I decide to make a "teaser introduction" of my context with fews images of the project for giving the intention on it.

V4 The new script¶

Introduce context Planet, forest, mushrooms, bacteria microscopic. Going more and more deep with some alternate to micro to macro. Like taking the height and going back inside deeeply. Trying to having this feeling inside.

Samples Starting with the first samples of mushrooms and going to kombucha scoby and finishing with the mix of the microorganism.

I was really woried to use kind off of the same process of combination of pictures for my video because Lauriane Beaumont use it for her video. She inspire me by the collaboration we made but I wanted something who introduce our subjects of together. Finding the good limit was difficult.

For my video I didn't want to expose so much the hard image of climate change and the pollution. I would like to show the beautiful nature we have arround us. I think OK we know the planet burn and we know is a desaster but I would like something more positive about nature with sentance inside, questioning ourself.

Aswell I wanted to change of the scale, It's why again after discussions with Capucine Robert, I finally decide to use some free vidéo for having good quality of render.

After the 46th export it's the final one.

The Text

Text and rythm:

Julien Morisse Chevallier and Gregoire Mariault help me for the english corrections and feedback on it aswell for the position of the text and the rythm, finally Julien recommand me to place it in the center and having some black screen one time for marking the time.

The sound:

Was difficult to find one, I would like something ambiant and didn't arrive to find one. I ask Simon Safar, who produce music with Leopold Escude if incase he didn't have something in stock possible to free to use and feeting with the mood.

Finally he send me the sound there are in my final video, I was fall in love on it and thinking is a perfect mood I want.
