Fabricademy Coordination

In the introductory module we present the academy’s coordinating team, the larger network of practitioners and nodes and frame the program’s scope and vision. The course explores the relationship between humans, technology and the environment through embodiment, materiality, ecodesign, biodesign, performance, smart textiles and digital fabrication.

Fabricademy is a transdisciplinary program that aims to reshape the role of technology in textiles and clothing, from fashion to emerging wearables. It provides an overview of the current research and applies learning-by-doing methods, addressing personal fabrication, distributed manufacturing, Industry 4.0, wearable technology, biofabrication, assistive technologies and sustainability. The class also defines shared values and workflows, software and tools used during the program will be introduced, alongside documentation tools for building personal websites.
